Improvised Rescue Techniques

Description

All outdoor activities come with their fair share of danger; some more than others. We can teach you how to deal with these unfortunate incidents, so you can be ready should the worst happen.

Our two-day course takes place outdoors on suitable Lake District crags.

Day 1: On the first day, we will practice various rescue techniques, including:

  • construction of sound and simple anchors;

  • escaping from the anchor;

  • climbing up and down ropes;

  • safeguarding abseils;

  • abseiling with a casualty;

  • assisted and unassisted hoisting; and

  • freeing a suspended climber from a tight rope.

Day 2: On day two, we will head back out to the crags and create some planned but potentially real-life scenarios in which we can practice our skills.

After completing this course we hope you will feel more confident leading a big route or abseiling into the unknown over a sea cliff!

Location

Our Improvised Rescue Techniques courses are held within the Lake District.
